Challenge
For Offroot, the challenge was to make a game involving roots for the global game jam theme. Due to the impending deadline, we had to work under immense stress and pressure. I was working in a group of 7 people and we wanted to make a puzzle platformer. I took over several jobs throughout the weekend. These jobs included level design, mechanics design, sound design, and music mixing. I also took a more managerial role by performing checkups on team members throughout the weekend.

Solution
After a few hours, we had the mechanics designed and finished. We settled on a time warp mechanic, where you could grow saplings in the past and see full roots in the future. I lead the design of levels using this mechanic. In our design team, we fully designed 7 levels that use the mechanics. Another designer and I stayed up white-boxing the levels in unreal for most of day one.  In terms of sound, I looked at futuristic sounds for inspiration because they matched the story and art. I stayed up most of the weekend helping where I was needed and helping the production teams overcome problems.
