
Challenge
The theme for this year's game jam was "make me laugh." So, as lead designer for the game I had to come up with an idea that worked for this theme. There were several limitations for the production phase of the game as well. First, we only had two days to make the game, so scoping was super important. Second, we knew we wanted to make this game in the Godot Engine. Finally, we had a smaller team size then we were used to so we had to limit a ton of features.
Solution
We initially struggled with the theme of the game jam when we first heard it. However, I had an idea that our group jumped off of quite quickly. The idea was simple, two serial killers fighting each other and they laugh every time they shoot their guns. Someone else thought of Cereal and thus, Loco Puffs was born. During this game of strategy, your goal is to defeat the other person while making sure you don't laugh too hard. If you laugh too hard, your character becomes harder to control, and may stop moving entirely. There are three weapons, all designed with unique gameplay. There is a marshmallow charm auto rifle, a milk jug sniper, and a spoon. Overall, the game is very fun, check it out below!
